Is Industrial Engineering Hard? An in-depth guide
Honestly speaking, there no hard and fast rule or a parameter to decide whether some engineering courses and fields are more or less hard than others. Isindustrial engineeringhard? Well, there are several factors including the professors, the curriculum, and most importantly your pre-requisite knowledge so the answer to this question may vary accordingly.
Do you enjoy coding/programming?On average, industrial engineerstend to code lesser than other engineers but they’re involved with technical work, programming software. Possibilities don’t define your salary:Yes, you heard it right. How can you prepare to simply accept the truth that being an industrial engineer, your average salary will probably be lesser compared to software or electrical engineer? Do you enjoy the Manufacturing of the product?Industrial engineering seems by pointing out product chain. Should you have a very good curiosity about consumer care or manufacturing of products, IE is going to be simpler for you personally.

Video advice: BUSTING MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
Hey all and welcome to my youtube channel. In this video, I address a series of misconceptions regarding Industrial Engineering. I’ve heard some, I’m sure you’ve heard some, but today we get to the bottom of it all.
The Louisiana Tech University Industrial Engineering Advisory Council was established in the summer of 2001. The Industrial Engineering Program Chair is an ex-officio member and the secretary of the IEAC. The IIE Student Chapter President is also an ex-officio member of the IEAC and attends the IEAC meeting.

When I started at Tech in 2016, I was actually a student in the college of business. I became interested in engineering because I saw the projects my friends worked on throughout the 120 series and their coursework seemed much more interesting and useful than mine. After completing the 120 series, it was clear to me that coding, circuits, and batch problems were not my strong suits. I was unsure about which engineering discipline was best for me, so I decided to talk to students who were further along in their curriculums than I was. This was the first time I learned about Industrial Engineering as an option. It took some time for me to settle on IE as my major, but after doing some research on the courses in the curriculum I made the switch and have not looked back. Thanks to the great professors in the IE department and guidance from students who came before me, I will be graduating on time this spring with a degree I never thought I would have had five years ago.
How Hard is Industrial Engineering?
Hi guys, I would like to go to medical school in the future, but I want a reliable backup plan(in case I dont get into med school). Initially I was thinking of majoring in either mechanical or civil engineering. However, after doing some research I found out that maintaining a good enough gpa in engineering for med school would be extremely difficult. However, I’ve heard that Industrial Engineering is significantly easier than other types of engineering. Also I find this field to be quite inte…
And also the OP should study something they are curious about. You will find certainly simpler majors than the engineering majors, including IE. Getting stated that, that is certainly possible to obtain a 3. 6+ in engineering. It’s the initial courses that engineers take, including IE’s, that knocks some kids out . Best of luck!
IE does far less math and physics intensive stuff than other engineering disciplines. At my son’s school for example, the IEs do statics and dynamics, but that’s really it for classic engineering per se. They do however take math through linear algebra and the full physics series like all other engineering majors. That’s not easy stuff. It may be seen as the easiest engineering degree, but it’s more challenging than most other degree options outside of the college of engineering.
Grad helps others using industrial engineering knowledge
From a young age, Courtney Stevens’ goal was to help people, and somewhere along the way, she decided that she could best do that as an industrial engineer. “I don’t remember what research I did (as a high school student) to come to that conclusion, but I remember thinking industrial engineering would get me to where I could help people,” Stevens says.
The tiniest information on her WMU education benefit her today. “I recall the class where they trained you to definitely write a highly effective memo so when they trained you how to approach difficult people. At that time you’re wondering ‘When can i make use of this?’ However I begin using these skills every day,” Stevens states.
Fifteen years into her career, Stevens is making a positive impact on how thousands of people engage in health care every day. The 2004 Western Michigan University industrial engineering graduate serves as the director of virtual care for the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. Virtual care, or telemedicine, is an emerging option for the delivery of health care services using information and communication technologies, for example, patient/doctor interactions conducted via video, from wherever the patient is rather than face-to-face in the doctor’s office. Stevens points to lessons learned at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences as a significant contributor to her success.
